CRAFT || AIR DRY CLAY BUNTING

Hi friends! I thought today I would try and make some bunting, I have been searching for something to brighten up the shelves above my TV.

I have a partner who insisted on a huge TV! and I just wanted a little colour in the corner of the room as when it is switched off there is a lot of black there.

I had been searching for a garland but couldn't find anything quite right so I decided to go ahead and try and make one myself!

What you will need:

Air Dry Clay

Cutting equipment

Pencil

Paint

String

Ruler

First off you will need to roll out your clay, you dont want it to be too thick but you also don't want it to shatter once it is dry. I would suggest a few mm thick.

I used a rulers width to measure out rows to create the flags then measure 3cm along the top or each row, then 3cm on the bottom but spaced from 1.5cm in, this will created your triangles evenly.

Once this is done you can start to cut out, lining up the marks as you go.

Once they are all cut out spend some time smoothing the edges and ensuring you have the correct shape, then (I used a pencil) create two holes on the sortest edge. The reason for making two holes is that the bunting will hang flat this way and now side on.

Once you have made all the wholes and are happy with the shapes, leave to air dry over night.

Then the fun part of painting! I went for bright colours but this would work in any number of combinations, from pastels to monochrome.

Now it's time to string them on, this takes some time and patience! I found adding tape to the top of the thread made it much easier to push through.

Once you have spaced them easily they are ready to hang!
